ARTIST'S
STATEMENT
After hibernating
through most of 2008, I came out realizing that I wanted to take
more control of my materials and ideas. I thought of Skull #1
immediately, but it took a couple more months for the realization
of this change of approach to sink in before I actually built
it. Besides the distilled narratives, I have held on to the intrinsic
construction methods of the last few years. The skeletal/anatomical
pieces are all titled in tribute to people who have significantly
impacted my life as a sculptor, whether through patronage or friendship
and encouragement.
